WIRELOCK® systems are used for the termination of many designs of umbilical termination. Various formulations are available to special order to suit designers needs in this market.
For steel wire armouring the normal socketing procedure for WIRELOCK® should be followed. For umbilicals with fibre strain members the procedure for fibre rope, using PARALOCK®, should be followed.
In both cases a thin walled steel tube should be fitted around the central umbilical portion within the socket or ‘bullet’. This will prevent any possible failure due to the collapse of the conical wire/fibre reinforced annulus within the fitting.
